RESIDENTS have shared their dismay after a local park and gardens was attacked by vandals last week.

Victoria Park in Barry fell victim to an attack by vandals last week which left the specially designed balustrade destroyed in pieces and the bus shelter had its glass windows smashed in during the incident.

Images of the damage shared to the Spotted Barry Facebook group on Thursday, August 15 showed the damage inflicted on the balustrade and the bus shelter.

Residents believed the incident had taken place the night before.

One said: "What is wrong with people" while others noted that the damage was "such a shame" and voiced their disappointment.

A local councillor reminisced about when the park had been opened and how the residents had been delighted when the balustrade had been officially destroyed.

They reassured residents that the council had been made aware of the damage and were already working on undertaking emergency repairs to fix it.
