A WOMAN had to be saved after getting stuck in the mud at Barry Harbour.
The woman had to be rescued by ‘swift water swimmers’ using specialised water rescue equipment.
Emergency services were called to the scene at just before 5pm on Friday, August 2.
South Wales Fire and Rescue Service worked with HM Coastguard to ensure the woman was brought to safety, with the incident concluding at 5.40pm.
HM Coastguard Penarth confirmed on their Facebook page that they were called to an incident of ‘a person stuck in the mud’.
SWFRS confirmed they were at the scene, with a spokesperson saying: “We received a call at approximately 4.55pm on August 2 to reports of a woman caught between the rising tide and mud at Harbour Road, Barry.
“The Coastguard and SWFRS attended the scene and the woman was rescued by two swift water swimmers, using a sled and specialised water rescue equipment.
“The stop message was given at 5.40pm.”
