A PERSON had to be evacuated from Flat Holm Island after suffering a head injury.
The incident happened on July 24 and the casualty had to be rushed Cardiff Bay Barrage where they were met by the ambulance service.
The person was described as conscious but dazed during the event.
Barry Dock RNLI thanked the barrage and the warden for Flat Holm Island, who helped co-ordinate the rescue.
On the incident, an RNLI spokesperson said: “The evening of July 24 saw our volunteer crew on Barry Dock RNLI all-weather lifeboat tasked to a medical evacuation from Flat Holm Island.
“The casualty had sustained a head injury and although conscious was dazed and was evacuated from the island as a precaution to an ambulance on-route to meet the lifeboat at Cardiff Bay Barrage.
“On arrival in Cardiff, the casualty was met by a parent and handed over into their care and onwards to accident and emergency.
“Our thanks to Cardiff Bay Barrage for a swift lock in and to Flat Holm Island official warden for coordination with the Coastguard and lifeboat.”
