Barry Island Pleasure Park continues to entertain the masses as summer holiday season arrives.
The park will be open every day, weather dependant, and owner Mr Henry Danter said the park is ready to receive.
Mr Danter said: “If you want to come have a great time and give the kids a great time during the school holidays then come down to Barry Island Pleasure Park.”
Comments about the return of Mega Spin to park on social media included, ‘great ride’, ‘certainly something’, and “this is one of the best traveling rides about in my opinion. Just wished it was still traveling in my local area. Miss going on it.”
Mr Danter still desires to build a holiday camp on his land at Hayes Road despite concern about it being next door to Ty Hafan Children’s Hospice.
At the end of June, Barry Pleasure Park said £70,000 worth of wristbands were given away so that pupils at special school’ Ysgol Y Deri’ got to have fun and enjoy the rides at Barry Pleasure Park.
At the time, Mr Danter said: “We want to give something back. We never expected the pleasure park to be so successful and we want to share that success with those that are not as well off as then rest.”
Gary Downes, the interloper between Ysgol Y Deri (where his husband teaches) and Barry Pleasure Park explained how the two-day event all came about.
“When we came out of Covid, Henry did an event for NHS workers for the good they did during the pandemic, and they brought their families here for a free day at the park,” said Mr Downes.
“I spoke to Henry two years ago – this being the third event – and said what do you think about doing something like what you did with the health workers for the pupils of Ysgol Y Deri?
“Henry looked at me incredulously and said what a fabulous idea.”
Throughout the summer holidays, Barry Island Pleasure Park is open everyday 11am to 8pm (weather dependent). Entry is free and all rides are token only (purchase at the park).
