A VALE man has been given a suspended prison sentence for a series of sexual offences against a child.

Simon John, 55, was up in crown court for charges including attempting to incite a girl between 13 and 15-years-old into sexual activity.

John, of Manor Court, Ewenny, committed the crimes in Ewenny in January 2023.

The full list of charges he was sentenced for included attempting to engage in sexual communication with a child, attempting to incite a girl into sexual activity and attempting to cause a child between 13 and 15 to look at an image of sexual activity.

John pleaded guilty to his crimes at a first hearing at Cardiff Magistrates Court on May 21.

He was sentenced at Cardiff Crown Court on Monday, July 15, where he was given a 20-month prison suspended for two years.

John was also made to do 110 hours unpaid work and placed on the sexual offences register.

He’ll be on the register for ten years and he will also be place under a sexual harm prevention order for ten years.
