A Barry childminder is hosting a special event to celebrate a year of caring for children.

Samantha Austin, owner of Casey's Cubs Flexible Childcare with SEA, will throw an anniversary party on August 3 to thank the families who have supported her venture's first year.

Community figures, including the deputy mayor and community police, are set to attend.

The event serves not only to celebrate but also to encourage family participation in the children's environment.

The over 3-year-olds are said to be excited, preparing activities to share with family members.

Attendees are advised to dress casually and bring a spare outfit.

There may be a visit from someone to do with the Curiosity Approach Network in Barry.

Ms Austin's daughter previously attended KC Childcare, contributing to her confident transition into childminding and she will be thanking the childminder.

Her husband will also enjoy his fair share of acknowledgement for his contributions, namely treating products from Landscapes 4 Learning Ltd.

A whole host of activities are on the day's agenda, including face painting and a buffet complete with a celebration cake.

Tea and coffee will be readily available, with special requests taken on board to ensure attendees' preferences are met.

In keeping with the spirit of giving back, a raffle is to be held, with the money raised to be put towards new equipment for the children.

Parking provisions have been planned with attendees encouraged to park on Old Mill Lane to walk down, reserving a space for a special visitor.

With a clear emphasis on family, community and giving back, the upcoming event reflects not just the past year of Casey's Cubs, but what it intends to continue to offer in the future.
