There will be a range of events taking place at Fonmon Castle near Barry this summer.

The castle's summer activities run from July 20 until September 7 and have something for everyone.

Event-goers can look forward to family fun weekends featuring superheroes and fairy-tale characters, a classic car show, and the UK's first festival paying tribute to the legendary rock band, Queen.

The castle, which dates back to Norman times, will have its vast grounds open throughout the summer.

Visitors can enjoy nature trails, a dinosaur park, a medieval village, adventure playgrounds, and a Welsh folklore trail.

Additionally, fun activities such as archery, axe throwing, and disc golf are also on offer.

Fonmon Castle was opened to the public by current owner, Nigel Ford, who took it on in 2019.

Enthusing about this summer's events, he said: "We’re delighted to be heading into our biggest summer yet.

"We’re excited to be staging the UK’s first Queen tribute festival.

"With the main stage in a festival marquee, street food vendors, and lots more, including a choir, and a brass band, it promises to be a fantastic day-long festival."

The castle's summer programme includes various character events.

Having purchased a ticket, visitors can access all of the castle's attractions except archery or disc golf, which come with an additional charge.

Family events include 'The Magical Candle' (July 20-21), 'Pirates vs Fairies' (July 27-28), 'Ice Princesses' (August 3-4), 'Under The Sea' (August 10-11), 'Film Weekend' (August 17-18), and 'Superhero Weekend' (August 24-26).

The season wrap-ups with the Classic Car Show and Family Fun Day on September 7, followed by the Queen of The Castle music festival on September 15.
