Take a look inside refurbished Barry pub Baruc Arms

A popular Barry pub has had an extensive refurbishment and we took a look inside.

Baruc Arms on High Street recently received a £113,000 investment from Craft Union.

Gone are the dark colours and in is a new, warming tone with brightened up bar, new pool table and electronic darts machine.

When Barry and District took a visit to the pub, operator Joe Chamberlain was delighted with the new décor while regional manger Danny Cross said the pub looked more modern.

The refurb has completely changed the look of the pub, said Mr Cross. “It’s got a warm feeling to it now and a welcoming vibe.”

The pub has undergone a complete interior redecoration with key additions being, a new darts board, surround sound throughout, a secondary bar and refreshed bathroom facilities.

Externally, the pub benefits from new signage and festoon lighting within the garden, making it the ideal place to catch some summer rays and socialise with family and friends

Mr Chamberlain, who has been running the day to day operations of the pub for more than six years, said: “I love it. It was needed. It’s freshened the place up.”

The pub will still offer the same great beers and there’s also live music on Fridays and Saturdays.

The Welsh pub takes its name from Saint Baruc, a sixth century Celtic saint and disciple of Saint Cadoc, which Barry itself is also named after.

The pub is open seven days a week 10am to midnight Monday to Thursday. Friday and Saturday until 1.30am.
