Barry's VOG Brewery holds 'banging' Easter beer festival

Barry and District News attended the first day of Vale of Glamorgan brewery’s Easter beer fest which ran from Friday, March 29, through to Easter Sunday, and we had a blast.

VOG beer is proud to be from Barry, with the VOG beer brand (over 100 years old) now safely in the hands of master brewers in Atlantic Trading Estate.

On Friday, master brewer and logistics manager Martyn Emery showed us round the event which was helping raise money for Civil Aid Voluntary Rescue Association (CAVRA).

There was food, cakes, face painting, live music, and beer! Glorious beer. Served from the bar in the breweries recently opened brewery tap room.

And Sunday was band day, with local artists Me+Him, Andy Lathall and Aggie Evans all playing a selection of tunes.

On the Friday, a very talented artist from Cardiff University played live music from the doorway of the famous brewery.

Logistics boss, Mr Emery, said the event went great and it was all done for a very important cause.

“CAVRA are a voluntary organisation who put their lives at risk to help people,” said Mr Emery.

“They do a lot of work with the RNLI and we think it is fitting this weekend we dedicate it to the men and woman who work at CAVRA.”
