A MAN from Barry has been given a suspended prison sentence after being caught with a knife.
James Taylor, of the town’s Jewel Street, was also sentenced for stealing over £50 worth of goods from Poundland on Holton Road.
Taylor’s sentencing, which was held at Cardiff Magistrates Court on March 6, came two days after another Barry man was sentenced for carrying a knife on Gladstone Road.
On January 20, as well as having a knife in his possession, Taylor, 36, was also stole 18 items, at a total value of £51.75, from Poundland on Holton Road.
He pleaded guilty to the charges on January 22.
Taylor was sentenced to four months in prison suspended for 18 months, as well as being made to do 100 hours unpaid work.
Taylor’s sentence was suspended due to the magistrates deeming he had shown a degree of remorse as well as Taylor having no convictions in the past four years.
He will also pay costs of £85 and a surcharge of £154.
