A PROLIFIC thief who assaulted a person while attempting to steal his ill-gotten goods has been ordered to pay back just £86.
This is despite Corey Poutney stealing more than £350 of wine from shops including Morrisons in Barry, Tesco on Holton Road and the Co-op.
Poutney, 33, also stole a Lego toy set worth £19.99 from Plaza Toy Master, Llantwit Major.
Poutney’s thievery took a more serious turn when he grabbed a member of the public by the collar and pushed him backwards while committing his criminal acts at Tesco Express, Cowbridge Road West, Caerau.
The shops hit by Poutney were Tesco Holton Road; Morrisons in Barry; Co-Op, Colcot Road, Barry; Tesco, The Parade, Dinas Powys; Poundland, Holton Road; Tesco, Cowbridge Road West, Caerau; and Plaza Toy Master, Llantwit Major.
The crimes were committed between October and December 2023.

Living above Bassett General Store, Holton Road, Poutney pleaded guilty to a total of nine charges on January 19.
At Cardiff Magistrates Court on February 12, Poutney was handed a 30 week prison sentence suspended for 18 months.
Poutney was also banned from Tesco Express 225-229 Cowbridge Road; Poundland 135 Holton Road, Barry; Tesco Express 57 Holton Road, Barry; Morrisons, Heol Ceiniog; Tesco Express Castle Drive, Dinas Powys; and Plaza Toy Master, Colcot Road, Barry.
The ban lifts on August 11, 2025.
