THE Mayor of Barry has thanked everybody who attended his Christmas Crafts Market at the end of November.
Cllr Ian Johnson introduced a new Mayor’s Christmas Market at the Cemetery Approach Community Centre on November 25.
The event next to Merthyr Dyfan Cemetery, featured ten different stallholders and a range of crafts.
He said: “It was a lovely start to the Christmas festivities with a wide range of different crafts on display, from local stallholders from Barry to those from further afield.
“My personal favourite was a cushion, illustrated with llamas, that was created by Alona, a Ukrainian refugee living in Cardiff.
“After the event, we took her to visit the grave of Gareth Jones, a Barry-born journalist who is well known in Ukraine because he reported famine there in the 1930s.
“The music for the event was provided by Bro Radio’s Christmas station, which is available on DAB+, online and through your mobile phone.”
Profits made from the event and refreshments are for the Mayor’s Charities, 2Wish and Mind in the Vale of Glamorgan.
