THEY are going from strength to strength and it’s great for the town.
The Dock Town Bar opened on Barry’s Broad Street and now the owners have opened the Dock Town Grill, offering mouth-watering ribs to go with the craft ale you can get at the pub just two doors down.
We met one of the owners Elliot Hemming when the Dock Town Bar opened in the middle of the year. This time, on a cold winter's evening, we had business partner Richard Southwood warming our souls with the description of the new food on offer.
Mr Southwood explained the Grill specialises in ribs and planks… (if you’re wondering what that is the clue's in the title, a plank of food – in this case peri peri chicken, hot wings and ribs).
It's those ribs which are something to focus the mind and stomach on.
The ribs are well taken care of at the Grill by the sounds of things, slathered in the house’s cola beer BBQ sauce!
As well as being a new restaurant offering the people of Barry yet another sumptuous choice of where to feast, the Dock Town Grill also offered one man the opportunity to follow his desires.
Mr Southwood and Mr Hemming went into partnership with Damien Guiney to create the joint.
When Mr Southwood and Mr Hemming got hold of the premises, they needed a chef, and Mr Guiney needed a space to pursue his passion for ribs – and so the three came together.
Mr Southwood explained: “Damien has always wanted to open a place that serves ribs and chicken in nice sauces, me and Elliot got offered the premises, we needed a chef and we thought we’d give Damien a call."
Mr Guiney has a wealth of experience having been part of the team that opened the hugely successful Deck at Penarth Marina.
The Dock Town Grill is open now having welcomed its first customers through the door on November 22.
Dock Town Grill is open 5pm Wednesday to Saturday with last food orders at 9pm, and Sundays.
