One person was taken to hospital following a serious crash in Barry. Emergency services were called to the incident on Port Road West on Tuesday, October 24.

The A4226 between Pontypridd Road and Port Road West was closed for three hours following the collision.

The collision involved one car and one motorbike, one ambulance, two rapid response vehicles and an air ambulance were sent to the scene, where one person was sent to the University Hospital of Wales for further treatment.

A Welsh Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We were called yesterday (24 October) at 3:48 pm to reports of a road traffic collision on Port Road West, Barry.

“We sent one emergency ambulance and two rapid response vehicles to the scene, where we were supported by the Wales Air Ambulance.

“One person was taken by road to the University Hospital of Wales Cardiff for further treatment.”

One lane on the A4232 towards junction 33 on the M4 which re-opened at 6 pm following the collision.

A Spokesperson from South Wales Fire and Rescue Service said: “At approximately 3:44 pm on Tuesday 24 October 2023, South Wales Fire and Rescue Service received reports of a road traffic collision on Port Road West, Barry.

“Barry Fire and Rescue station were at the scene, alongside emergency services colleagues. The collision involved one motorcycle and one vehicle. A stop message was received at approximately 4:51 pm.”
