JOBS at a Wilko store in Barry remain safe - for now - as the store remains unaffected by the closures of ten stores in South Wales.
The store on Holton Road will remain open for business as usual, despite shelves being ransacked last month, as the high street retailer announced administration.
There are 18 Wilko stores across South Wales, and only eight will remain open and trading as normal following the announcement of store closures across the UK.
The store in Barry is currently unaffected by the closures and remains the nearest store for people in Penarth as the Cardiff Bay store is listed for closure next week.
Wilko at the Cardiff Bay Retail Park on Ferry Road will close its doors and cease to trade for good on Tuesday, September 12.
The news comes after PwC which was appointed to oversee the insolvency last month failed to secure a rescue deal for the whole business.
It comes a day after rival retailer B&M bought up to 51 other Wilko stores across the UK in a deal worth up to £13 million.
It is currently unknown which stores the budget retailer has bought, but administrators have announced that stores not mentioned in the closures list will remain open until further notice.
