A HOUSING firm has got their hands on an historic piece of land in the Vale of Glamorgan and are planning to develop it.
Acorn Property Group has agreed terms to purchase 3.4 acres of land within Hensol Castle Park, with plans to build 16 homes on the site.
Phase one of the development, currently known as The Mews, will include nine two-and-three- bedroom houses and one three-bedroom bungalow.
Phase two, known as The Villas, will feature six four-and-five-bedroom detached houses.
Initial plans show the houses to be built within a stones throw of the famous castle.
In the blurb, Acorn say: "Renowned for its award-winning sustainable residential developments, Acorn is an independent development and regeneration specialist that has over the past 27 years successfully created residential-led refurbishment and new build schemes."
New residents will have the exclusive grounds, lakes and a walled garden right on their doorstep, including a 650-acre private estate, which is home to the Grade I listed Gothic-style mansion, Hensol Castle.
The Vale Resort is known for its two championship golf courses and prime leisure facilities, which include tennis courts and a spa.
The resort also provides training facilities used by the Welsh National rugby team, the Welsh National football team and Cardiff City Football Club.
Commenting on the new scheme, James Groombridge, regional managing director of Acorn’s Cardiff office, said: “We’re delighted to have secured this opportunity for a brand new residential development within the beautiful surroundings of Hensol Castle Park.
“We look forward to delivering a scheme sympathetic to this historical parkland with stylish new homes fit for modern living. Our focus is always to deliver homes that enhance the local environment and the lives of its occupiers.”
