A BEACH in Barry has been ranked as having the fourth highest water temperature in the UK.
It’s been calculated that Whitmore Bay has a high water temperature of 17.7 degrees.
That figure comes in at just 0.5 degrees behind Clacton Beach at Clacton-on-Sea, which was calculated as having the warmest water in the UK with a temperature of 18.2 degrees.
To put those temperatures in context, it’s recommended the ideal temperature for a bath is between 32 and 40 degrees.
According to the country-wide study on beaches, put on by outdoor clothing brand Millets, Barry was ranked the 18th best coastal location in the UK, receiving an overall coastal score of 6.81 out of 10.
Tynemouth was crowned the best coastal destination according to the study after scoring 8.49 out of 10 overall.
Weymouth and Poole followed in second and third place, with the coastal locations scoring 8.33 and 8.09 respectively.
Bournemouth Beach was ranked as having the highest parking price of any beach in England and Wales, averaging £9.20 for up to four hours.
