THIS weekend the country will come together to celebrate the historic coronation of King Charles III.
For most this will be the first coronation to be held in living memory, and what better excuse is there for a party?
The coronation itself is being held on Saturday, with the majority of street parties and Big Lunch celebrations being held the following day – and of course, many get an extra day off on Monday as well.
Among the events being held in the Vale of Glamorgan on Sunday are Big Lunches at Llandough Primary School, starting at midday, as well as at the Custom House in Penarth.
A parade, picnic and party are also being held at Cowbridge, with a street parade in the High Street from 11.30am, followed by a party in Bear Field from midday until 4pm.
Private events are also being held in Britton Road, Penarth, Colcot Community Centre in Barry, and in Llanmaes, just outside Llantwit Major.
On Saturday the coronation will be screened on big screens at Cardiff Castle and in Roald Dahl Plass in Cardiff Bay - both will have capacity for 2,000 people.
