Recently, Mayor of the Vale of Glamorgan Susan Lloyd Selby had the honour of cutting the ribbon and officially opening the new premises in front of over 100 Pukka patrons and members of the public.
Pukka kids delight on opening day
Pukka formed in 2005 with one goal – to put on a community production of Jesus Christ Superstar. Due to the success of its first show they were inspired to keep going, and a year later a production of West Side Story happened. Since then shows have come thick and fast, including Joseph and his Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat, Buddy, Annie, Jekyll and Hyde, and Sweeney Todd.

People couldn't contain their delight
A spokesperson for Pukka said the opening showed how far the company had come and was a celebration of everyone’s hard work, offering the community additional support in the process.
“The Wherehouse ‘WHERE the talent begins and never ends’ will be a community hub offering a dance studio with floor-to-ceiling mirrors in the studio, Bluetooth sound systems, projectors and a digital piano in every space.
“We will be opening our fours for community groups to book to run a variety of arts-based activities.
“We will be providing many activities for the children of Barry including discos, holiday clubs and youth clubs.
“We’ll also be taking bookings for dance, princess, pamper and disco-themed birthday parties.”
