AN UNSTOPPABLE Barry takeaway is a finalist for another award.

Royal Balti Barry, on Vere Street in Cadoxton, is an Indian takeaway well-known for the numerous awards it has scooped recently.

The venue’s latest achievement? It has been announced as a finalist for ‘best Indian establishment’ in the Food Awards Wales 2023.

Royal Balti – which offers food for delivery or collection – is the only Vale of Glamorgan venue to make the finals for this category and will be up against:

  • BABA’S, Cardiff;
  • Bombay Grill Indian Restaurant, Cardiff;
  • Duchess of Delhi, Cardiff;
  • Pukka Pure Indian Kitchen, Cardiff;
  • The Spice Ambassador, Cardiff;
  • Mirchi Indian Takeaway, Newport;
  • Red Fort Caerleon, Newport;
  • The Spice Lounge, Guilsfield;
  • Zeera Indian & Bangladeshi Restaurant, Llandrindod Wells.

Winners for each category of Food Awards Wales 2023 – which is based on an online voting system by the public – will be announced this summer.

Muhammad Ahmed, who co-owns the business with Niaz Haidari, said:

Earlier this year, Royal Balti won a 2023 Good Food Award (also known as the Blue Ribbon for Delicious Dishes).

And last year (2022) the popular venue celebrated a number of successes, including:
