A PROJECT to create 23 new council homes in Barry has been completed.
Known as Lon y Felin Wynt, the development on Hayes Road - which will soon welcome new tenants - includes:
- 19 two-bedroom properties;
- Four three-bedroom properties.
Ahead of the arrival of the tenants, council leader Lis Burnett and cabinet member for public sector housing and tenant engagement Margaret Wilkinson took a tour of the site.
The properties have been constructed by Pegasus Developments Ltd on a brownfield site near the Atlantic Trading Estate.
They will boost the Vale of Glamorgan Council’s housing stock, helping meet demand for this type of accommodation.
Previously the Vale of Glamorgan Council delivered a similar development of 28 new purpose-built homes at Llys Llechwedd Jenner in Barry.
A scheme to construct 11 new homes at Holm View in Barry – including four adapted bungalows specially designed to meet the needs of a disabled family member – has also been completed.
Cllr Margaret Wilkinson said: “The need for Council housing is increasing so it’s vital we provide for that by delivering top quality properties.
“These homes and being constructed to the highest specification and will provide comfortable modern places for families to live.
“This is the latest in a series of developments designed to boost our council housing stock and cater for the needs of our residents.”
