AN AWARD-WINNING food venue in Barry is in the running for another accolade.
Royal Balti Barry, on Vere Street in Cadoxton, is a finalist for the ‘best curry takeaway’ category in The Curry Life Awards 2022.
The business was opened on March 1, 2003, and will celebrate two decades of dishing up food next year.
Business owner, Muhammad Ahmed, said:
“Our takeaway has built up a good reputation over the years, because we provide excellent service and maintain our quality.
“Even though we are going through the toughest times and paying high costs for everything we still haven't dropped in quality – we have continued to offer quality food to our customers and taking less profit.
“Thank you to our customers who are continually supporting us.”
He added that he is “delighted” and “proud” that the Barry business has made the finals of The Curry Life Awards 2022.
“My staff and I always strive to ensure we provide the best service,” said Mr Ahmed.
“I cannot wait for the awards ceremony; I will be over the moon if we win this fantastic award.
“Even if we don’t win, I am still a winner to myself as I have reached a position which many have not, so I must be doing something right.”
The winners of The Curry Life Awards 2022 – deemed the Oscars of the curry world – will be announced at a gala dinner hosted at The Great Room in Grosvenor House London on Sunday, October 9.
“My future plans are always the same,” added Mr Ahmed.
“I am always seeking new ideas and trying to improve to ensure my business keeps its valuable reputation and loyal customer base.”
Royal Balti Barry – which has the top food hygiene rating from the Food Standards Agency - also won ‘Indian takeaway of the year’ at The Welsh Asian Food Awards 2022. This is the second time that the food venue has won this award, having earned it at the inaugural The Welsh Asian Food Awards in 2019.
