AN UP-AND-COMING band from Barry is preparing to release their debut single.
The 8:48 is a local teen band with:
- Lead singer and songwriter Kyle Bellamy;
- Bassist and songwriter Dylan Hooper;
- Lead guitarist Harrison Ollier;
- Drummer Dylan Clarker.
They’ve been taking Barry by storm – recently performing at Whitmore High School to raise funds for Ukraine, with Europe’s Joey Tempest sending a message of support ahead of the gig.
And the unstoppable foursome plan to release their first single – Off To The Sky – on July 1, and have another concert lined up on July 7.
Off To The Sky was written by Mr Hooper and Mr Bellamy in March 2021 - the first song the duo wrote together - and was performed at their gig for Ukraine.
“It’s a song about chasing your dreams,” said Mr Hooper.
“We wrote the song before we came up with the name – hopefully some people will recognise it [from the previous show].”
He added that it’s “quite cool” that the Vale of Glamorgan’s radio station Bro Radio will air the track.
Off To The Sky is entirely self-produced and recorded by The 8:48 and will be available for digital download from Friday, July 1.
Plus, music fans will be able to watch The 8:48 perform live on stage at Whitmore High School on Thursday, July 7.
“We’re very excited and can’t wait to play again,” said Mr Hooper.
“After the last show the next day we just wanted to play again; we will have a new set list with new originals and covers.”
Although not nervous at this stage, he added there may be some pre-show nerves as they try to ensure the show is just as good – if not better – than the last one.
Doors will open at 7pm, for a 7.30pm start, at Whitmore High School on July 7. Tickets are £3.50 and available from trybooking.co.uk/brzy
