BARRY Town Council has agreed on a council tax freeze.
The council tax freeze for the 2022/23 financial was agreed upon by Barry Town Council following feedback from the community.
This means the town council's portion of council tax bills for people living in the town will not increase. However, bills will still increase, with the Vale of Glamorgan Council, which sets the largest portion of council tax, proposing an increase of up to 3.9 per cent.
During December and January Barry Town Council consulted residents on the proposed draft budget.
Although they had proposed to increase the council tax precept by 1.9 per cent, 75 per cent of respondents said they would not support this increase.
As a result, Barry Town Council agreed on the council tax freeze for 2022/2023.
