Local running club Beyond Running Fitness (BRF) turned out in their droves on Saturday, January 29, to help and support club member Jeffrey Cox complete his 500th Park Run at Barry Island Park Run.
To put that into context, that would be roughly running in a straight line from Barry to Moscow. A truly amazing achievement in itself, but they aresure that there will be more distance to come in the future.
The runners, proudly wearing their new blue club running tops, kindly donated by sponsors SWT Wealth Management and United Carpets, arrived at the start line to the most horrendous conditions, with lashing rain and howling gales, but this didn’t dampen their spirits one bit.
As soon as the starting bell rang, off they all went chasing after Jeffrey, each and every runner with a beaming smile on their faces such is their love for running.

BRF Running Club is a free club, available to anyone that wants to start running, reignite their running, improve their running and fitness levels, or just wants to run for the social side of things, regardless of age or ability.
The club currently have a combination of 10 Coaches/Run Leaders that host running based activities at least four times per week, 2 x mornings (including coffee afterwards) and 2 x evenings.
A Park Run Tourism Group has also been set up by members for those that like to travel further afield for their Saturday morning run, this is always well supported.
They also run the nationally recognised Couch to 5km course a few times a year, which is a great way to start your running journey. A new course will become available in the early spring.
Running has been proven to help with mental health and stress issues, and it is why BRF will welcome any new ‘runner’ with open arms.
To find them, log on to Facebook and search BRF running club, fill out a simple questionnaire and someone will get in touch.
BRF would once again like to thank their sponsors SWT Wealth Management and United Carpets for their continued support, and congratulate Jeffrey on such a great accomplishment.
