THE TOWN council is ho-ho-holding a 2K Santa fun run soon.
Barry Island is a change of scenery to the North Pole, but that won’t stop hundreds of people – donning Santa costumes – from running (or walking) the two-kilometre route on Sunday, December 5.
All adults are given a Santa suit, and little elves are encouraged to dress up for the fancy-dress competition on the big day.
Plus, everyone who takes part in the family friendly event will get a goody bag and a medal.
Registration for this popular event – first held in 2016 – closes at 4.30pm on November 26 – or if tickets run out.
The schedule for the 2K fun run, which starts outside Marco’s Café on the Promenade on December 5, is as follows:
- 10am Santa Suit collection point opens and entertainment starts
- 10.30am fancy dress competition judging
- 10.50am Santa warm-up
- 11am Family Santa fun run starts
This annual event raises money for charity through sponsorship. For 2021 it will support Barry Town Mayor Cllr Steffan Wiliam’s chosen charities: Vale Food Bank and Barry RNLI.

Registration closes at 4.30pm on November 26 – or if tickets run out – so don’t leave it too late if you’re hoping to take part.
The fun run is free for children under 16 (but registration is still needed) and £6 for adults, with an option for groups to take part.
