WELSH Government has extended the Covid pass to include cinemas, theatres, and concert halls.

The new measures came into effect across Wales on November 15, after the Senedd approved the extension of the pass on November 9.

Barry Memo Arts Centre, on Gladstone Road, has offered clarity for what this means for people attending film screenings or live events at the venue.

What will I need when attending a screening or live event at Barry Memo Arts Centre ?

Those aged 18+ will have to provide at least one of the following:

  • Via the digital NHS Covid Pass (with QR code)
  • A paper certificate of the vaccination from the Welsh Government (this does not include vaccination cards) – this can take up to 10 days to arrive
  • Confirmation of a negative NHS lateral flow test, within the last 48 hours, by e-mail or text from gov.uk along with proof of identity

The Memo is legally required to enforce this, regardless of whether they agree or disagree with restrictions, and failure to do this may result in improvement or closure notices or fines.

As a registered charity they cannot afford for this to happen.

What if I cannot meet any of these requirements?

There will be no refunds for those who cannot produce any of the above; refunds will only be issued if the venue is forced to cancel an event and cannot reschedule.

What are the options for ticket holders?

The following options are available for those with tickets to events and activities scheduled after November 15 (when the Covid pass extension came into effect):

  • Re-Issued tickets: ticket value can be transferred to another screening or live event(s) at the Memo
  • Credit Voucher added to your Memo account: this can be used for any event within 365 days. Credit not used within this timeframe will go to the Memo Arts Centre Development Fund
  • Donation: You can choose to donate the full or partial cost of your tickets to the Memo Arts Centre Development Fund to help support the charity during this challenging time.
