A MERMAID who rescued a drowning cow on her eco mission will be sharing her story at Barry Island.

Lindsey Cole will be donning her mermaid tail – made from 52 repurposed swimsuit – to share her story at Barry Island this Sunday (August 15).

Back in 2016, while diving in Indonesia, she cut her hand on plastic and decided to raise awareness of the plastic problem.

So, in 2018 she put on her recycled mermaid tail - along with a wetsuit and woolly hat - and swam along the River Thames, with a support boat towing a mermaid made from plastic.

Along the way she rescued a cow from drowning and wrote a children’s story, The Mermaid and the Cow, based on her experience and will share her tale – donning her recycled mermaid tail – on the beach outside Marco’s Café from 11am this Sunday (August 15).

Ms Cole said: "The Mermaid and the Cow is a fun story about teamwork, based on a true story.

"It’s made me realise how much children love mermaids and now I’ll be working on a series of books about this.

"There’s quite a lot of doom and gloom about the future of the planet and I wanted to raise awareness in a fun and magical way."

OTHER NEWS:

Although there is no charge to meet the mermaid people are asked to let Ms Cole know if they plan to swing by, as this will give her an idea on numbers.

They can do this via her website or on a Facebook post she shared highlighting the vist.
