A WELSH-medium school in Barry is celebrating a high pass record at A-level.

Pupils, parents, teachers, and governors at Ysgol Gymraeg Bro Morgannwg, on Colcot Road, are celebrating "excellent" A-level exam results this year.

Despite the challenges of the coronavirus pandemic and lockdowns many pupils at the school have excelled – 13 pupils achieved at least three A* grades this year.

The following seven pupils achieved four A* grades:

  • Morgan Bailey (previously from Ysgol Sant Curig)
  • Ffreya Davies (previously from Ysgol Pen-y-Garth)
  • Alys Evans (previously from Ysgol Gymraeg Pen-y-Garth)
  • Rhys Griffiths (previously from Ysgol Gymraeg Llundain and Ysgol Iolo Morganwg)
  • Joseff Rogers (previously from Ysgol Sant Baruc)
  • Cadi-Haf Rhys-Binney (previously from Ysgol Pen-y-Garth)
  • Glesni Sion (previously from Ysgol Pen-y-Garth) achieving 4 A*.  

A spokeswoman for Ygsol Gymraeg Bro Morgannwg said: “We are delighted that the hard work of our pupils has ensured success that enables them to progress to the next stage they have chosen in their lives, whether that be in the world of work, an apprenticeship or on a course of their choice at university.”
