ONE of the great advantages bowls has over other sports is the fact that it can be played by all ages.

Cadoxton Bowls Club demonstrated this in their friendly match against Barry Romilly.

One rink featured young bowler Ewan Heppenstall and three generations of the Craven family.

Ewan has several years of experience, although still only 22, and has developed into one of the club’s most reliable players.

Young Jack Craven, playing his first game, is 12, father William is 38 and grandfather Howard is rather coy about his age.

William is the club’s greenkeeper and captain and Howard is chairman of the men’s section.

Incidentally Ewan’s father, Ian, also plays at Cadoxton.

This rink proved to be Cadoxton’s top rink on the day in a match comfortably won by Romilly.

Now that we are emerging from the difficult period of restrictions, the Cadoxton club is anxious to attract new members.

Much effort has been put into improving the bowling surface, which is now being much praised by visiting teams.

All bowlers will be pleased when they can once again use the facilities of the clubhouse and socialise fully after a game.
