A HOUSE party in Barry is one of many parties shut down by police on the weekend.
South Wales Police responded to more than 552 coronavirus incidents – in which people disregarded the Level Four coronavirus restrictions in place throughout Wales – on the weekend, which is 110 more incidents than reported to them the previous weekend.
In many cases no breaches were identified, but police officers still issued 134 fixed penalty notices (FPNs) and fined more than 70 people; 90 people were fined by South Wales Police for coronavirus related matters the previous week.
Seven FPNs were given out to people who attended a house party on Barry Waterfront, plus four people living in different addresses were discovered car-sharing in Sully.
Seven FPNs were also handed out to people at a house party in Cardiff, with one attendee arrested and charged with breaching a restraining order and assaulting an emergency worker.
Other FPNs dished out in the Welsh capital over the weekend included:
• 15 for people at a flat party in Splott, Cardiff.
• Eight for a house party in Grangetown, Cardiff.
• Six for a party in a flat in Riverside, Cardiff.
• Six for men gathering to drink in Canton, Cardiff.
Numerous people across South Wales were fined for travelling to parks, beaches, and other beauty spots without a reasonable excuse.
South Wales Police are carrying out regular patrols to enforce the rules where needed.
Joint Enforcement Teams (JETs) which are made up of police offices and council staff, have been established in each local authority area and will continue to target areas of high concern.
