A ROUND-UP of recent cases heard at Cardiff Magistrates’ Court.
NATHAN WILLIAM CAIN, 26, of St Michael's Close, St Athan, was jailed for eight weeks after he admitted assault by beating and ordered to pay his victim £100 compensation.
CALUM BOBBIT, 20, of St Nicholas Close, Barry, was banned from driving for 20 months after he pleaded guilty to being more than twice the drink-drive limit.
He was also ordered to pay £239 in a fine, costs and a surcharge.

DARREN EVANS, 45, of Merthyr Dyfan Road, Barry, must complete a 10-day rehabilitation activity requirement after he admitted a public order offence and assault by beating at Cardiff Central police station.
He was also ordered to pay £840 in a fine, costs and a surcharge.
MATHEW COOPER, 19, of Court Road, Barry, was banned from driving for 18 months after he pleaded guilty to drink-driving.
He was also ordered to pay £525 in a fine, costs and a surcharge.
MICHAEL JOHN DAVID, 43, of Main Street, Barry, was conditionally discharged for six months after he admitted possession of amphetamine.
He was ordered to pay £85 costs and a £21 surcharge.
PHILIP EDWARD TAMLIN, 44, of Vere Street, Barry, was fined £40 and ordered to pay a £34 surcharge after he admitted stealing bread and chocolate from B&M Express and the criminal damage of a jar of Nutella there worth £3.50.
MICHAEL PATRICK WALL, 31, of Dunlin Court, Barry, was banned from driving for 12 months after he admitted driving while disqualified.
He was jailed for eight weeks, suspended for 12 months, and was made the subject of a 12-week electronically monitored curfew.
Wall must pay a £128 surcharge and £85 costs.
LOUIS DAVIES, 47, of Laura Street, Barry, was ordered to pay £237 in a fine, costs and a surcharge for driving without insurance.
His licence was endorsed with six points.
LEWIS JOSEPH FAZLOODIN, 29, of Cadoc Crescent, Barry, was banned from driving for six months for driving without insurance.
He was also ordered to pay £811 in a fine, costs and a surcharge.
DONNA LUCY PEART, 37, of Jewel Street, Barry, was sentenced to a 12-month community order for stealing cosmetics from Boots and possession of heroin.
She must complete a 15-day rehabilitation activity requirement and pay £159.96 by way of compensation, a fine and surcharge.
CHELSEA COTTLE, 25, of Y Cerigos, Barry, was ordered to pay £217 in a fine, costs and a surcharge for speeding at 35mph in a 30mph zone on Jenner Road.
Her licence was endorsed with three penalty points.
SEBASTIAN OLIVER LEE, 40, of Redbrink Crescent, Barry, was ordered to pay £217 in a fine, costs and a surcharge for speeding at 39mph in a 30mph zone on the A470 in Cardiff.
His licence was endorsed with three penalty points.
SAMANTHA HINTON, 34, of Well Walk, St Athan, was ordered to pay £217 in a fine, costs and a surcharge for speeding at 35mph in a 30mph zone on Cowbridge Road.
Her licence was endorsed with three penalty points.
JAMES TAYLOR, 32, of Holton Road, Barry, was ordered to carry out 80 hours of unpaid work after he admitted fraud and racially aggravated harassment.
He must also complete a 15-day rehabilitation activity requirement and pay a £90 surcharge.
MICHAEL ROBERT WHITBY, 42, of Port Road, Rhoose, was conditionally discharged for 12 months and ordered to pay a £22 surcharge after he pleaded guilty to drunk and disorderly behaviour on Holton Road in Barry and the theft of Rolo and Dairy Milk chocolate from Londis.
ALLAN KEITH JONES, 59, of Y Rhodfa, Barry, was ordered to pay £525 in a fine, costs and surcharge for driving without insurance.
His licence was endorsed with six points.
VALERIE RUDMAN, 64, of Powis View, Barry, was ordered to pay £217 in a fine, costs and a surcharge for speeding at 35mph in a 30mph zone on Cowbridge Road West in Cardiff.
Her licence was endorsed with three penalty points.
NEIL MALCOLM SMITH, 53, of Cardiff Prison was ordered to pay £279 in a fine, costs and a surcharge for driving without insurance and otherwise than in accordance with a licence in Barry.
His licence was endorsed with eight points.
LAUREN MARIE HALL, 33, of Brean Close, Sully, was ordered to pay £217 in a fine, costs and a surcharge for speeding at 48mph in a 40mph zone in Pontyclun.
Her licence was endorsed with three penalty points.
