A TAKEAWAY from Barry walked away with the best takeaway of the year award in the Welsh Takeaway Awards 2019.
The Royal Balti Indian Takeaway, in Vere Street, Cadoxton, took the honour at a ceremony held in the Coal Exchange, Cardiff Bay, in December.
The business is owned by Muhammad Ahmed with Niaz Haidari.
They won the prize for Curry Takeaway of the Year South East and were the overall winner.
Mr Ahmed, 33, said: “Our customers have nominated us and we are delighted to achieve this great award.
“It’s very good for our business as well and we are glad our customers like the food and service we provide.”
He added: “I would like to say thank you to my staff for their hard work and the customers for their loyalty and support because they are making this work.”
CEO of Creative Oceanic, Irfan Younis said: “Although in the first year, we are honoured by the fantastic response we have had from the public who was so keen to vote for their favourite takeaways.
“This industry has grown massively over the past years and we aimed to seek out, reward and thank those who have managed to make a real difference by serving fantastic food, using the best of ingredients.
“The winners are an outstanding example of excellence whose dedication to be the best has made them stand out among the rest.”
