A FORMER Barry Comprehensive pupil is preparing to run the Cardiff half marathon in memory of his dad Trevor who died after a battle with cancer in April this year.
Royal Mail postie, Colin Walters is endeavouring to raise funds and awareness for Prostate Cancer UK on Sunday, October 6.
The dad-of-two, who is also a safety steward at the Principality Stadium, Cardiff, has previously run the Barry Island 10k but is stepping up the distance, this time, for the charitable cause.
Mr Walters, 43, said: “In April this year I sadly lost my father Trevor with this awful condition.
“My dad was diagnosed just over five years ago and that travelled to his bones.
“He always looked on life with a smile on his face even when he was in pain.
“He fought it all the way with dignity and strength and always thought of us before himself even at the hard times so myself and my best bud Andrew Birch have decided to run the Cardiff half marathon for my dad and every brother, son and father who are also fighting.
He added: “I'm running the Cardiff Half in memory of my dad for Prostate Cancer UK because this is very close to my heart.”
