WELSH Labour has retained its Vale and Barry Town Council Gibbonsdown ward seat in the by-election on Thursday, November 3.
Labour candidate Julie Aviet polled 404 votes.
Plaid Cymru’s Shirley Ann Hodges 161 votes; Independent Dennis Bernard Harkus 113; Welsh Conservative Leighton Rowlands 104, UKIP Wales, Robin James Hunter-Clarke 54, and Welsh Liberal Democrats, Jennifer Geroni polled 7 votes.
846 votes were cast.
Assuming the Barry Town Council councillor role is Julie Aviet, Welsh Labour, who polled 444 votes.
Plaid Cymru’s Liam Terrence Colin Townsend achieved 213 and Welsh Conservative, Leighton Rowlands polled 155 votes.
820 votes were cast.
The poll was triggered following the resignation of former cllr Rob Curtis.
