ON TUESDAY, March 1, six geology students from the school travelled to Whitchurch High School in Cardiff to take part in the Welsh final of the BGS Schools’ Geology Challenge.
As part of the event each team had to prepare a poster on this year’s topic, Waters Role in Geological Processes. In addition to this they had to deliver a five minute presentation on the topic and then show their skills in a geological quiz.
The competition was once again really closely fought with the Barry team coming a close second to the eventual winners from Whitchurch. This is the fourth year in a row that the team from Barry Comprehensive have finished second in Wales.
The winning team will now move on to the national finals to be held at the British Geological Society in London during April. They wish them the best of luck.
Mr Prickett would like to thank all of the team members who should be very proud of their achievements. The judges were particularly impressed with presentation skills and range of knowledge displayed by all members of the team.
