A JEHOVAH’S Witness from Barry yesterday appeared in court to deny 12 counts of historic sexual offences.
Mark Anthony Sewell, 53, of Porthkerry Road, pleaded not guilty to the charges at Merthyr Tydfil Crown Court on Tuesday (February 4).
The offences date back to November 1985 and the four alleged victims cannot be identified for legal reasons.
He pleaded not guilty to a single charge of rape and not guilty to a total of 11 counts of indecent assault.
He denied seven counts of indecent assault – including one on a girl aged under 14 between November 1985 and November 1990.
He also pleaded not guilty to three counts of indecent assault against a girl under 14 between January 1990 and January 1992, a single count of indecent assault from 1995 and a rape allegation from 1990.
Sewell is due to stand trial in June in a case expected to last up to three weeks.
Judge Richard Twomlow granted him bail until a further hearing next month.
