A BUS operator was forced to withdraw its service from the Gibbonsdown area after stone-throwing yobs targeted a vehicle while passengers were on board. EST has warned commuters that its Vale Council-supported 95 evening bus service could be permanently re-routed, after a window was shattered just after 8pm on Wednesday, January 5.
The service was suspended until Monday, January 10.
The Llantwit Major to Cardiff via Barry service was travelling towards Pencoedtre Road, and while passing the Pendoylan Close junction, a stone was thrown at a side window, causing it to smash.
Police are investigating, and urged members of the public to come forward with information.
EST operations manager, Mark Harris said that no-one had been hurt and the driver had reported the incident immediately.
"We have had a couple of incidents in that area,” he said.
"We hope people will go to the police and tell them who it is.
"It only takes one person for everyone to lose that service in the evening,” he added.
"We have to think about the safety of the passengers and drivers."
The Vale Council and EST apologised for any inconvenience caused by the temporary suspension of the service.
The Cardiff Bus daytime 95 service was unaffected and continued to run its normal route.
Anyone who witnessed the incident or can provide information to assist the investigation, should call police on 101 quoting crime reference *005103.
