TY HAPUS, the Barry Alzheimer's charity have received an incredible donation of £4412 from local crematorium Memoria.
The money will be used to fit the charity's minibus with a tail gate lift.
Ty Hapus, a Barry-based day service for people with dementia is entirely reliant on charity for funds and so were delighted to be the recipients of the generous donation.
Ellin Jones, Ty Hapus day support manager said: " We are wholly reliant on fundraising to exist and so were very pleased when Jane Barnett (crematorium manager at Memoria) contacted us to say that Memoria's Chife Operations Officer Howard Hodgson had nominated Ty Hapus to receive a donation of £4412.
"As a result of this amazing donation, we are now in a position to have a tail gate lift fitted to our mini bus which has long been our wish.
"Previously many of our guests with dementia were unable to access the bus. However with a rear lift fitted, many opportunities for day trips and visits to places of interest will be opened up for everyone.
"On behalf of our guests, their families and everyone involved in Ty Hapus I would like to say a huge thank you to Howard, Jane and all of the staff team at Memoria for this wonderful gesture."
