Plenty of festive fun at fixture!
THE customary Boxing Day encounter saw Barry RFC players past, present and future entertain the assembled crowd, in what must be the best supported training session for many a season!
The light-hearted encounter saw coach Darren Gibbon get a bloodied nose within 10 minutes. Joining Gibbon with war wounds were Maltese international John Dimmond and Dave McCann, who picked up a cut to the eye and a few broken ribs respectively.
Comedy value was provided by coach Andrew Prosser, presiding over the session, awarding penalties where required and blocking the red scrum half, Dimmond, at every opportunity. The comedic coup de grce was dealt by John Haskell with a commando crawl from 5m to get the final score under the posts. The drop goal conversion was a close run thing after bouncing around the upright and the crossmember before eventually falling to the good. Saturday, January 6, marks the start of the second half of the season with retribution sought against visitors Cilfynydd. K/o 2.30pm Old Reservoir Field.
